    Default Vat Increase Part 2

Well this is how you make the poorest people of our nation poorer.

"Osborne also signalled that there were no plans to reverse the rise (in VAT)- with income tax likely to be targeted for any possible reductions in future".

So pensioners, people with lifetimes illnesses and persons out of work through no fault of the own will not benefit in any income tax changes i.e. increasing thresholds that people start paying tax at. These people do not as a rule pay income tax, the one that will change will be their (Tories) best buddies 50% tax.
The Higher limit before you start paying income tax on £10,000 will take the full length of this parliament to achieve even though the Lib Dems said that was one of their main points that must be met in forming a Coalition Government

    Well
    Rich get Richer
    Poor get poorer.

sounds like part of the plans to get some of the scroungers into work. not a bad plan imo.
the only alternative of increasing vat was to increase income tax, and that would be far worse.

We keep blaming the previous government it "was all Labours fault" mentality doesn't explain the banking crisis nor the global recession, but that fully aside, I agree that NO government will ever be popular but this one is hitting the wrong people, the rich can always afford higher fuel and VAT so I do think that income related tax would have only been slightly better than VAT but still the poorest paid would not have been faced with breadline decisions.
The unemployed long term, do need to be persuaded into work and I have no issue with fit bodied people having benefits "adjusted" severely if necessary as why should I work my tail off to pay for others to sit home watching tele?

However, we all forget one thing. There is hardly a politician today that could actually relate to any of our plight, know the pain of not being able to afford presents for the children or the uncertainty of wondering if your company will make it another year!

So why do we continue to elect them? because none of us could be so stupid irresponsible or thick is my guess,,,,,,, we simply would not want to be a politician!

Hmmmm... Let me see... Become an MP... Gain experience... Suck up to the right people... Become a Minister... Get on the Board of Directors of... hmmm... perhaps a bank... SET FOR LIFE!

Why do you think that the banks got the gigantic payouts that they did and their "leaders" still got their, ahem, generous bonuses?

Law / Politicts and Banking are all the same people,.. thats why it's all so expensive. Take a simple divorce, Solicitors simply write about four letters and post a few documents back and forth,.. £1200. They make themselves their own money.

When have you ever seen a person who is on benefits not being able to afford their fags or booze?

Benefits should be the minimum required to sustain you so you will have to get off your arse and find a job.

Hold on - what about disabled people? Most can and DO work. Pensioners - if they have worked and paid into the system then great - give it them back but if not they should get the bare minimum.

At least the VAT increase hits us ALL fairly.

It's ****** like you that really get my back up - my 5yr old son has cerebral palsy,1 kidney, autism and is virtually blind so what chance has he got of ever working yet there's always someone like you that thinks the same as this poxy government that the disabled are an easy target and just lazy

I think Steve is referring to the majority who take the **** (ones who you see all day in the pub with no intention of working). There are of course genuine folk like yourself Dazzy who do need all the help they can get and rightly so.
