Default tyre speed and load rating

I got talking to a tyre man, and he said the load and speed rating for my vec1.8 is 97V, he also said ALL vectras should have EXTRA LOAD tyres, is he talking tosh? I would have thought a load rating of 93 and speed rating of H would be ok,,,,your thoughts please

if topspeed 210 KM/h or less H rated is enough.. but the 2.2 direct actually needs H or V.. as topspeed is between 208 and 212...

and yes you are correct about the loadrating.. but im running on 94 (extra load)

Actual load rating for 1.8 is 91, and it doesn't have to be extra load. Would have come from the factory with 91W, although 91V would be ok.

Aren't the extra load (XL) tyres meant for diesels because of the heavier engine?

I wonder why they would put a speed rated tyre (W) of 168mph on a 1.8 vec, even the H is rated at 130mph and a V at 149mph, thanks for the reply john.

93 is actually an XL tyre, the only model in the range that actually requires (I think) ex tyres is the 3.0v6 cdti Auto.

So yes he is talking tosh and don't trust him as far as you can throw him
Now I need a turbo to keep up!
