Default Wing Mirror: It just fell off.

Got back to the car, got in, closed the drivers' door and something out the corner of my eye moved when I looked up the mirror was gone. I could see the funny side for all of ten seconds. Stealers or Halfords? Halfords - picked up an anti-blind spot replacement for 20 notes .

As you can see from the last picture, the replacement glass has an adhesive pad on the back (the original had nothing) I'm worried the pad, which is about 1mm thick, will interfere with the heating/defrosting.

Any thoughts on this, should I just go ahead and stick it on?

i think it should be fine but with the replacment bit having the double sided stick on it the glass wouldnt fit flush it would sit proud and with the wing mirror having the heaters on it it might effect the sticky tape i say consult main stealers

Think you should have got one like this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vauxhall-Vectr...item415526b1f0 the heater element is built into the mirror itself isn't it?

That's a point, but the stealers will mug me for sure they'll want to change the whole housing.

When mine fell off the heater foil was left mainly intact in the main body of mirror. Also the miraculously the glass did not break so just stuck the glass back with a thin smear of araldite and everything including the heater element works fine.
Suggest therefore that you consider removing the adhesive pad and simply stick the glass on with adhesive.

Mine dropped off the Astra 06 and the replacement from motor factors was a good fit but the vision was totally different from the original.

    So buy genuine.

Ditto, apart from mine was hanging on with magic when I seen it. Just stuck some araldite on and it's been fine
