    Default AirCon Question

Yes, strange time of year for such questions!!

Anyway, went to get it gassed at the start of the summer due to it not having worked for a while, plenty of gas (i.e. full) but the clutch on the compressor was not engaging so thought no more of it. Checked the fuse tonight (seems there's quite a few pertaining to the AC!) and was missing fuse 18 so replaced it and now I get a change in engine noise when putting the AC on but doesn't go below 12.8 celcius.

Any way of checking if the compressor is doing its job visually? Or could it just be needing a good running seeing as its been 'off' for so long?

pre-face 150 cdti if that means anything.

Yes usually the revs increase slightly on tick over to cope with the extra AC load

Revs change for a second then levels out again. However, hold the revs at 1k, AC on and they go up by about 250rpm but still not as cold as it should be.

Not wanting another summer of wet seats.

you should be able to see the centre part of the pump turning if the clutch is engaged.......try also feeling the pipes running of the air dryer, these should be hot if the system is workin.....can take a good five minutes to kick in
