Folks,
I need some help please.
I have a Vec-B 2001/51 2.2 DTI SRI and last week my EML/Limp Mode came on whilst I was driving on motorway.....found it to be one of the leak off pipes that had rubbed against the power steering bottle to be completely battered, so replaced and all was well. When I fitted the new pipe I did re-route it so that it doesnt go anywhere near the power steering bottle.
Then a few days ago I drove down to Basingstoke from Birmingham and car was fine all the way until about 110 miles in, when the EML came on whilst driving at motorway speed and car jumped into Limp Mode and would go over 60-70 mph. During the journey the "Check Oil Level" came on on the MID but checked the oil level and all was well. Anyway, pulled over about 7 miles after the EML first came on and turned the car off for about 5 mins and then restarted......ALL WAS WELL AGAIN so continued on my journey.
Driving back today and all was good again, pulled like a train until about a 100 miles into the trip where the same thing happened again, EML came up. This time on the way back the "Check Oil Level" didnt show up at all until the about 5 miles after the EML. Anyway I got home and turned the car off and went to get the laptop for the OP-Com and by the time I plugged it in the EML had gone off and no codes were found!!!
So, first of all, are the "Check Oil Level" warning and the EML/Limp Mode completely coincidental or are they linked?
Secondly, could this problem be the leak off pipe that I have replaced is also slightly porous somewhere-although its brand new?
Lastly......am I barking up the wrong tree and is there a problem somewhere?
The only reasonable explanation that I could come up with is that the leak off pipe I have replaced is slightly damaged and that with the heat of the engine its expanding and causing the EML to come on. Once it cools down slightly, it goes back to original size and all is well?
Please help folks, thanks!
