    Default Suspension problem?

Hey Guys. Was driving in snow the other day and appeared to bounce over a rather large frozen lump of ice under the snow, on the driver's side. Now, that side seems about half an inch lower than the passenger side. The car drives straight and does not pull to either side, and no vibrations. I was passing Kwik Fit, who were offering "free suspension checks". I popped in. After about 90 mins, they found NOTHING wrong!! Not bad for Kwik Fit. I was expecting to be ripped off big style. I told them what happened and they still said nothing is wrong. I've removed the wheels and the springs are not broken, even though the ride height on the driver side is about half an inch lower. I can hear a very light groan from the srivers side when turning in either direction. Not sure if it's always been lower, only checked after the little incident. The shockers appear not to be leaking. Could the droplink be damaged perhaps?

    Any ideas??

    Thanks

Droplink damage would be very obvious.

Are you sure the springs are good? Not snapped inside the rubber sheaf at the bottom have they?

How long have you had the car? If you bought it second hand it could be that someone has had a single broken spring in the past and not changed the pair.

On closer inspection, it appears to be the spring. Felt around the base and it is rough and has a sharp bit (snapped???), whereas the passenger side is smooth all the way down, and looks newer! I've had the car a couple of months, I know the previous owner who had it for 2 years before me (best mate), she never replaced the springs, but the previous one to that did replace the passenger spring only! Gonna go for a new spring on the drivers side and see how it goes. Today, the light groan when steering is more apparent, and definately from the drivers side, which is about an inch lower than the other side!

    Thanks for your help DNS

If you are keeping the car long-term, then if you find one spring broken, then replace both
Equally, they come in a kit of two which is cheaper should the other one be in a similar condition

Two new front springs fitted. No strange noises now

Driver's side was about 20mm lower than passenger side. It's now about 4-5mm lower.. Should I worry? It drives straight does not pull or shake..
