    Default Non Genuine or Second Hand EGR?

    Evening all, I've been looking for an EGR value for my 52 1.8, the stealers wanted £90 and motor factors £45 (non genuine). Then I saw the ebay non genuine ones for around £35 but not sure they'll be much good.
    At the scrap yard today I found an original one on a vec b that looks in decent condition.
    My question is; is a second hand genuine part is a better option than the non genuine ones? I'm assuming it is.
    Cheers

    if you can see the one in the scrap yard is in good condition i'd opt for that, probably wont cost nowhere near as much from a scrapyard as well?

    Well I fitted the one from the vec b and all is good. Did a 60 mile trip yesterday and the eml stayed off! It cost £20 but could have been cheaper if i'd waited a couple of days for the guy I usually talk to there. The catch on the plug was slightly different but locked in place with just a little persuasion.
    So hopefuly with this and the thermostat fixed I should see improved mpg.

    After a week the eml still hasn't come back on, very happy, just a shame about the money spent on fruitless diagnostics and pointlessly replacing a lambada sensor. Wish i'd known sooner that an egr from so many other cars would fit my 1.8 Z18XE;
    Astra G & Zafira (98-05) - Z14XE, Z16XE, Z16SE, Z16YNG, X16SZR, X18XE1
    Corsa C (01-06) - Z14XE, Z16SE, Z18XE
    Meriva (03->) - Z16SE, Z16XE, Z18XE
    Tigra B (04->) - Z18XE
    Vectra B (96-01) - Y16XE, Z16XE, X18XE1
    Vectra C (02->) - Z16XE, Z18XE, Z18XEL
    as there's usually loads of vec b's and astra's at the scrappys but never any vec c's.

    Dont get second hand ones. The reason they die is all the gunk in them kills the insides so if you get a used one it will only be that much closer to dying.

    Clean your existing one and if that fails get a new one. Also fit the restriction plate to stop it gunking up again as easy.
