Default What would you have done??

Ok Went to Peterborough today to see my daughter and after decided to go to the Queensgate centre for a spot of xmas shopping.

For those of you that dont know Queensgate has a multi-storie carpark where you pay for you carpark stay before you leave the shops. Now, it's been a while since i've been there, as me and shopping dont go

When i left for some reason i thought that it was pay at the barrier, got to the barrier and realised that i had to pay at the shops, Put the siggy into reverse, there are about 5 cars behind me who all had to back up so i could turn around.

There was one women in a Polo who wouldn't give me enough room and despite me waiting for a few mins for her to back up she refused, so i went down the side off her as there was just enough room, so carefully keeping my eye on the drivers side mirror so not to hit her, all of a suuden there was a bump.

I'd only reversed into a Rover 75 that was in a parking bay, jumped out my car, to see what the damage was to both our cars and to have a word with stubborn polo woman

Intially I couldn't see any damage at all to either cars, but due to the cars been filthy i went to get a rag from my motor to rub the area clean on the 75 so i could properly inspect, still no damage that i could see, not even a scuff.

Went over to stubborn polo woman and said politley to her that had he given me a bit more room it would of never happened, she said she didnt know what i was trying to do, my reversing lights are on so what did think i was trying to do. She then said aren't you going to leave your details on the Rover, I said that there was no need as there is no damage, she seemed to think that i doesnt matter if there's damage or not i should leave my details.

I even invited her to have a look herself and not to take my word, she declined my invite.

So what would you all have done?? I dont feel quilty as there was no damage at all, why should i leave my details, for all i know the other side of his bumper could have a scuff on it, and the Rover driver will claim off my insurance for it.

And just for the record I'm an honest driver, if there had been a mark, crack or dent then defiantly i would leave details as i know how pi$$ed off i would be if it hasppened to me.

    All coments welcome.

Probably the same if it were me. As long as i could say to myself with all honesty that no damage had been done, then i would just feel a bit silly for it happening in the first place.

Your biggest problem will occur if she's the type to take your number & report you for hit & run, which is what happened technically! Although you did inspect both vehicles, in law you must report any accident & leave your details!, ''not having a go at all & I'm not saying what i would have done! but when the sh*t hits the fan 'ITS THE LAW'. In some circumstances it pays to take pics just in case!.

If there is no damage to either car, then there is no accident
Bumpers and body panels can easily absorb impacts at very low speed
After all, that is what bumpers are for

I quite often reverse into tight spaces
The vehicle behind can then be seen moving as my bumper touches
    Drawing forward shows no damage
A few times the concerned owner has come out, but after inspection they are quite happy, and that is the end of the matter

The Polo driver was being obstructive if you were unable to reverse or move your own vehicle
Not everyone is aware of how car park procedures work or are applied; done it myself where the ticket expired just as I got to the barrier
Sadly such car parks do not design the barrier area so that a refused vehicle can simply be reversed into a standby bay

I would have left a note saying

"I am writing you this note because I have just bashed your car.
and people have seen me do it and are still watching me.
I have no intention of giving you my details as I am not insured.

    Have a nice day"

nah only joking, I would have done the same as you
