Signum elegance Snow tyres?

Want to fit winter tyres to Signum.Its on 215/50 17's but the owners manual says this tyre size not for use as a winter tyre.Anyone have any ideas what size to fit/use.

I must say the manual seems a bit contradictory.

In my manual Vectra 1.9cdti sri hatch. 2008 model.

On page 299 technical data 'Winter Tyres'
Tyres of size 215/50 R17, 225/45 R18 and 235/35 R19 are not to be used as winter tyres.

Only the winter tyres specified on page 306 may be used on vehicles factory-fitted with 235/35 R19 tyres.

For Vectra VXR, tyres of size 225/45 R17 on a Vaux-approved alloy wheel with designation 7x17, ET39 as well as tyres of size 235/40 R18 are permissible as winter tyres.

Page 306. Cars factory fitted with 19" wheels. 235/35 R19.
can use 215/55 R16 or 225/45 R17 or 205/50 R17 as winter tyres.

On page 302 which lists my car 215/50 R17 there is no little number after saying it can't be used as a winter tyre.

I have just ordered 215/50 R17 winter tyres for mine. Can't see there will be any problem. (From my local tyre supplier). Kumho KW23

I have found its not easy to get winter tyres. I have ordered mine, but not got a delivery date yet.

I have been looking at mytyres.co.uk Phoned today and they said The Nokian tyres I was interested in were now available, was told to order on-line. When I went on-line the prices had gone up £50 each.
