Default Another £1000 bill!!! Blummin inlet manifold!

Well, yesterday my flat spot issue got even worse, basically massive turbo lack, and pretty much zero power below 2000rpms in any gear.

So limped it over to MPG in middlewich, Ian took one look and confirmed the rods, or bars or what ever they are have come off!! Turns out as many of you may know, they were plastic, which is a design fault as they wear out! The new part from vauxhall is steel... so that says summit!

So to do it, its cambelt off, so need that replacing, as well as oil, filter etc and what ever else... doing it all in for £980 and will be ready tomorrow!

Pretty gutted, two months ago i had DMF & clutch at £900. So this blummin car has cost me a fortune!

Was saying to Ian last night, i might flog it now, but he did say, think long and hard about that! You'll have sorted the two big jobs now really, and with the newer steel parts (whatever they are, i forget) It will wont wear on them!

So, i bought it for £7000, remapped £500 and nearly £2000 in repairs, still got a £22K car for less than £10k... for now....

Think i'll keep it! Still love it to bits... I guess the longer i keep it, the more it will pay for itself!

    Mike

Oh, sorry to hear your bad news. Yes these cars cost a fortune to repair, but are great cars when they are working.

I agree with Ian, dont sell.

Hmmm, if its the swirls on the cdti 150 inlet manifold then there STILL plastic im afraid but a slightly different design, the cambelt DOES NOT have to be removed! full stop, i think the price is a bit steep but most garages will try there luck!, the 'manifold & gasket' can be brought for around £165 - £200, as you can see by the how 2 (me in the pit!) it can be diy with reasonable spanner knowledge, i certainly wouldn't pay a grand & a fellow member does them via ebay for 200-250ish if anyone was stuck!, i do them also far cheaper but on a as & when basis
