P1109 fault code after alternator replacment

Hi Everyone.Car wouldn't start Monday morning.Towed into local garage.Alternator replaced on advice of recovery truck and garage.Garage tell me there are two alternators for my car so they have to check which one I need as they are different voltages.Within 2 minutes of leaving garage after work done, car goes into limp home mode.Garage look at car again reset it, turbo now working again,but now say it has P1109 fault code.Could garage have fitted wrong alternator? Could they have caused the fault when doing the alternator change as have never had the problem before? Last time I did any diy work on a car it had carbs not a computer.

Or it could be the throttle position sensor in the throttle body? Are there no other fault codes? P0638?

A car that can't start and assuming the ignition and fuel system is fine then it leaves one culrpit imo - the throttle flap. This could be shutting over for some reason - usually due to an open circuit. Make sure they are satisfied which ever one it is. I had the throttle pedal replaced but it made no good. The fault actually lay in the Throttle body.

Earlier CDTI's had an issue with the throttle pedal. Fault code P0638 - if the problem is what I think it is - will be there, but you will need Op-Com or Vaux-Com to find it as it won't be an active fault - just intermittent.

p1109 swirl actuator malf lift off top cover have a look at rod on manifold if its on start eng should move accross if not could have a fuse blown or its seized .

the fuse you need to check is fe14 in box under bonnet
