    Default Track days

Not sure where to start hope someone can give me some pointers, what's the requirements for a track car, if your purely racing it on a track how does insurance work? Also not looking to get an f1 car but maybe something older a small hatchback and strip it out?

If you tow it to and from a track then there is no need for insurance or an MOT although it must pass their safety tests. You can insure it on the track if you wish and there are specialist track day insurers for this. As for an ideal car, it all depends how much you want to spend.

I am thinking about buying a second car just now with the aim to use it for track days, i've been looking at escort gti's

Well with no need for insurance or MOT does sound not as expensive as I first imagined. Not sure what car I'm looking at yet to be honest and not going to spend a great deal just in case, accidents happen.

I've done 5 trackdays in my essentially stock CDXi (GSi) Most will require full sleeve shirts, full length trousers, enclosed shoes and a helmet. Others, will also require a 1KG fire extinguisher to be mounted easy access within the car. (Passenger foot well is the most used place)

You will always be required to sign a contract stating. "If you damage, write off the car its not the centres/tracks fault" and all liability will be with the driver. Insurance WILL not cover you.
