Yes you can and it will pass the MOT - there is a precat further up the that controls the emissions. Instead of buying a new front pipe get a new flexi joint welded in. If you take it to somewhere like MIJ in Walsall they can weld in a new flexi joint and decat it for about £100! There are actually two flexi joints in the front pipe - it's probably worth getting both of them done at the same time - but obviously if you have them both done that will be a bit extra! HTH

Not if it's a petrol it will fail on emissions unless you are very friendly or know a mot tester but that would be illegal of course

Either put a decat pipe on until you can afford to replace it or bite the bullet and buy a new one

I it was a diesel the. You don't need a cat for the mot lol

No it won't fail. What matters is the emissions at the back, regardless of how you achieve the results. Been there, done it.

    Take a look at http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?t=59699

Not true - as I've said there are precats on the GSI - these control the emissions! The main cat can be removed without emissions being affected!

    Which bit is unclear?

Those of us that have done it, you will pass the MOT.

If you're unsure, listen to those that haven't done it and don't bother.
