    Red face An eventful week!

    Dear all,

First of all, an apology. I've been using the site for months, but never had the time to post anything concrete of my own. Now it's time to give something back to the community!

During a week off work, I've done the following to my beloved Star Silver 3 Veccy CDTi 150:

    • Fitted the HID kit - HIDS Direct with 10% discount code
    • Fitted Philips Xtreme Power H1 bulbs
    • Covered my August changed Air Con Condenser (thanks for the How 2) with mesh bought from eBay - two long strips cut to size and then overlapped to give a 43 cm depth and cabled tied together, then daisy chain cable tied to the condenser mount posts at the bottom and the pipes leading to the drier unit at the top
    • Cleaned the EGR (proper method), fitted Fiat blanking gasket
    • Cleaned boost sensor (again)
    • Removed and cleaned throttle body, refit with new gasket etc, resoldered pins even though appeared fine
    • Fitted my APH? tuning box (it's German - guess some derivative of the Caterman I bought on eBay)

Car threw the emissions light up for a couple of restarts, but after leaving for 5 mins, and fitting the box, it was fine! Running lovelyyyyyyy

    To Do:

    • Fill the black plastic splitter in the centre join with plastic bumper filler, prime in white and colour code to car; cheaper than XP1/2 splitter (I will get a load of stone chips averaging 800-1000 miles a week)
    • Get said air con regassed - no point doing it before air con condenser meshed
    • Sand my headlights and adjust them up - they're terrible, even after the HIDs!
    • Refurb the alloys - Simonitz paint and acrylic lacquer bought!
    • Respray the mirror protective covers (touch up) and the plastic rub strips thanks to a kindly neighbour (who ended up buying me a rattle can kit)
    • Spray and fit the VXR grille
    • Try and obtain a 2.2 RHS exhaust silencer from a breakers, and a new VXR diffuser for the exhaust to spray gloss black after brasso'ing the tips!

I know that but given that some bozo has mashed my front bumper before I got hold of the car, I'm reluctant to drop it again and besides, it's too cold and early for pics

PS. Many thanks to the beautiful Clair for supplying home made choccy cakes and cups of tea, and also whacking the T30 bolts for the throttle body back on - couldn't have done half of it without you beautiful!

PPS. My vacuum pipes were pinching (all CDTI 150 owners read this thread) when warm, fine when engine cold; no sign of splits of cracks or weakness. Took it into Vaux while under warranty (8k ago), suffered poor performance and non-diagnosis since about May; BEST 6 QUID I HAVE SPENT ON THE SILVER BULLET!

    Tom
