    Vehicle : Jaguar XF 3.0D V6

    Trim : Black

    Engine : 3.0D V6

    Year : 0000

Default 1st to 2nd gears, at high RPM

I needed the clutch replacing at 15,000 miles on my 04 1.8

It had collapsed, under warranty to no cost to me.

However, when now changing from 1st to 2nd at high engine RPM it doesn't seem to go into gear particularly easily. Is this normal?

I though that maybe I wasn't pressing the clutch pedal all the way down, but that is not it.

    Anyone got any info?

VX reckon that the clutch and gearbox internals are now out of warranty (car is into its second year) and if the clutch was fitted properly when it was replaced, any costs would be charged to me.

Knowing that gearbox removal and clutch inspection is quite lengthy, and then any gearbox inspection necessary after this. Would I be liable to a large bill?? Is this right??????

    Handbook not very clear.

Sounds a bit like the clutch isn't disengaging properly. Does it go into gear OK at a standstill?

Fine, no problem at stand still, only happens 1 - 2 at high RPM, like if you need to make a quick pull out of a junction etc.
It will go into 1st or reverse at standstill no problem at all.

    Any ideas

surely if vx did the original repair under the warranty then you should not have any bill if the repairs were made in the warranty period and its down to theyre work (just my opinion - probably wrong)

You are correct, but what if the answer is not that VX did anything wrong? I don't want a large bill for something that is not too bad. (If I WAS paying, I think I would live with it)

Just looking for any ideas as to what it could be.

Clutch out of warranty - yes
G/box internals out of warranty - No

Diagnosis in a main dealer works in the way that so long as your car is still within its 3 year warranty then take it back to the dealer who can, based on fault occuring on test drive, speak to their warranty manager who can authorise further diagnosis under warranty, this may involve first speaking to VX. Up to this point you will NOT be liable for any charges at all. In cases like this VX always look to make sure vehicle has been maintained at proper service intervals by recognised VX dealers before making any decision on out of warranty work. Basically it aint gonna cost you anything to go back to dealer and to take a mechanic out for a road test with you to experience the prob first hand. Hope this helps a bit.
