    Default 2004 1.9 CDTI Timing Belt & Inlet Manifold

    I have exhaust fumes entering the cabin and the fumes are coming from the swirl valve area. The rod is still connected but all 4 are well oily, also number 4 injector seems to be leaking a bit. Question:- if I am having the inlet manifold replaced by a garage, would it be much more work for them to change timing belt & water pump while they are at it or does the inlet manifold replacement job not need any timing belt work? My car is on original timing belt at 50K miles and thought if half the job was already being done, the additional cost may be worth doing just now rather than whole cost in a year or two time.

    Athough the manifold can be changed without removing the timing belt the belt cover and top engine mount have still to be removed so I would guess that it would still be cost effective to have the belt and pump changed at the same time as the inlet manifold. Just ask to make sure at the garage that will be doing the job.
