    Default Been Shopping!

Just been perusing the Meguiars site and got a little carried away with the plastic.

Just bought the Random Orbital Buffer, a selection of Buffer pads and some 'No Swirl Polish' to prep the paint for some 'Gold Class Wax'. Spent just under £150 and I can't wait for it all to arrive!!!!!

I've justified it to myself already aswell... spent some of the money I have saved up to spend on my Mini when it comes back from the bodyshop, so it will help me look after the brand new coat (of paint) I've just bought for her....... and it'll make polishing the Vec aswell (I have some nasty swirls on the bonnet from using cheap scratch remover)!!!!!!!

I've only recently seen the meguires stuff.. and was well impressed, tried a bit on the black ( or should i say lightish grey ) panelling on my mk1 mr2, and it brought it straight back to its original colour, a nice deep black...well chuffed.

I used the Maguires 3 step system to get rid of the swirls on me motor. Takes ages for all 3 stages and leaves you with arms of a gorrilla, but job sorted.

At the moment I use Zymol Cleaner Wax as a polish, with a top coat of Meguiars Gold Class Wax.... that gets rid of 99% of the swirls but doesn't cut through the swirls i got from the cheap scratch remover I wish I'd never bought, so i'm hoping the 'Swirl Free Polish' from the mequiars proffessional range will do the job.... i'll let you all know.

the meguiars buffer is ok..... but compared to a PC7424 its like comparing a B&Q own brand polisher to a dewalt pro model. Even more so if you can stretch to a Cyclo dual headed polisher which are the bee's knees. The meg buffer is certainly not a naff product, just that there is better out there, (but at nearly double the cost).

You will notice a big difference in finish if youre using a swirl remover with a buffer, (plus a load of polish sprayed over the rest of the car too lol!). As youve now started on the slippery slope of more advanced polishes and techniques, get ready for spending a fortune on trying new waxes and polishes lol

Finally got the chance to use it this morning.... got back from a night shift and it was a lovely cool morning, so out came the buffer.... WOW!!!

All swirls gone and all scratches, has a real deep shine now and i'm well chuffed, just hope it stays like it for next weeks west mids meet!
