Engine Cuts Out

Evening

Have a 2004 2.0 dti that has a semi recurring problem. Usually in the morning when engine is cold, turn electrics on, wait for glow plug light to go out and turn over, car fires and runs for 5/10 seconds and then cuts out.

Turn the car over again and starts after about 30-60 seconds of turning over and lots of smoke out of the back. Whilst turning over lots of smoke out of the back (much to the neighbours dissatisfaction!) and will "take" and then a bit more and a bit more until fires up and more smoke as you rev it for the next 60 seconds.

Drives normally, no EML, no spanner, no limp mode just wont fire.... Quite frustrating and as have to leave at 0400 for work don’t want to alienate the neighbours....

Any ideas / suggestions appreciated....

do a 'search' for leak off pipes or fuel drainback

Diesel is running back to the tank due to an airleak somewhere, most probably the leak off lines

leak off hose is sold at your local discount spares shop,1 Mt is plenty about £4. pretty easy job to do,no special tools needed.

I am buying some 4mm silicone tubing to renew the vacuum pipes,would this be ok to use as leak off pipes on the 1.9 CDTI do you think?.FELIXX.
