My dad is thinking of buying one. Found a 1998 2.8 auto. Mileage is lowish at 68k.
Anything to look out for on these?
Anyone know when the tining belt is due?
Cheers

No belt as it's a chain. I believe you need to check the rear subframe bushes as it's an expensive job to have then changed.
Thanks, will do.

There was a problem with Naskil liners in the engines dropping but I believe that was changed in march 1998. If it has a naskil engine, personally i would avoid it.
I think they took the rear suspension from the old E30? You'll be getting about 20mph around town and 25 on a run
My mate had one and they are heavy on the steering, but apart from that it was relaible and I use to often use it and they are a well made solid car.
Odd, my 328ci was averaging 30 and 36 on a run. mush better on fuel than my gsi was.
I saw that so I double checked for you. I think it was a material used in the engine manufacture that caused problems. You need to find out if it has one or not and I don't know how to tell although I believe its id'd by a stamp on the engine or something similar. (I probably spelled it incorrectly )
Just looking to find out how you tell, so far : "I thought there was only one method and that is if there is no tab/plug in the hole above the starter motor its a nikasil"
