No instrument lights or interior lights.

Hi guys, I recently removed the bulb from my glove box light fitting to see if it was a cause for draining the battery (it wasn't) and when I replaced it it blew something out in the dash as soon as I made the two contacts and now I have no interior lights whatsoever, the heated seat controls don't work and the intstrument dials don't light up. A real problem when driving at night!! The cd player and heater controls all work and light up, and on the instrument panel the mileage display and gear select screen light up but the dials don't.

I have checked all the fuses to no avail and the dealer wants £77 just to have a look to see what the problem is, on top of the £1545 I gave them last week!! So I thought I'd see if anyone could help before shelling out.

Nearly always the fuses...

Have you tried all THREE fuse boards.
Under Hood Electrical Centre (engine bay fuse box - FU 7 and FU 13, FU 31 and FU 33.

End of dash - CIM power feed = FI 10
BCM feed = FI 7, FI 9 and especially FI12

Rear fuse box - not clear from documentation.

I can solve this one

Fuse F4 in the passenger fuse box on the end of the dash. My dial lights still worked but that may be a difference in the facelift wiring as they're alays on regardless. Same thing happened to me when I shorted the bulb to the dash crossmember and spent weeks checking everything...

Will make a note of that!!

FI 4 in the manual for my 05 Vectra just has a "-" next to it - (no function),

but TIS states that this is used for "Accessories".

Yup, my Haynes said nothing either - giveaway was when I found the blown fuse in F12 which didn't have a function either. I repaced it but didn't solve anything, then tried fitting it in the F4 position and voila!

When I originally checked them I must've checked it, thought it was ok, and put it back in the wrong place. Just how many mistakes can one man make in 5 seconds...

Thanks guys, turned out to be the battery overload protector fuse, one of few I didn't check! Methinks a clearer description of each fuses responsibilities could be provided in the manual!
