It’s always hard to see things we’ve put so much time and effort into being unceremoniously scrapped like that - as much as I’d love to change mine I find it hard to imagine driving anything else. That might be because I’m still rocking the Insignia after 9 years and now just passed 109,000 miles and still going strong!

I put up a post here a few weeks ago for the first time in years about my fuel statistics for 100k miles and no-one replied…
Yup got a lot quieter on here over the years, Ive got no one to argue with over VXR's being crap any more

Thankfully i saw Ian's car once, possibly my favourite colour and one of the best engines. All his info helped me mod my first Vectra into a mean machine.

I read your post but had nothing to say so didn't reply. I don't like talking about fuel statistics with a 2.8t.

So, finally drawing this thread to a complete close with her beginning and her end. Goodbye for good old girl, thanks for the years of fun and service (and the frustration and expense at times lol), I genuinely still miss this car and sometimes wish I'd never sold it, but would never want her back now after seeing the pics in the advert.

The guy is selling some of the bits on Ebay if anyone wants anything from her (including the Irmscher steering wheel).

Just realised I went to see your old car yesterday.
I bought the seats. They're still looking pretty good, and still all working.
Thank you for the excellent work you did on them.
They will get looked after by me now.

I think the biggest issue now is that the vectra-C is almost 20 years old as design, and I guess the modding side of it just isn’t as big as it used to be. Even the Insignia A is 12 years old and mine is definitely showing it’s age. The important part is the friends people made in their time here - it was always good for that.

Oh, and my thread wasn’t about the fuel economy specifically, as it isn’t massively
impressive these days, but 100k miles of data is a nerds wet dream…

20 year old design..............and looks better than some of the crap that's being put off the end of a production line.

Can’t argue with that - mind you, I still like the older Vec B dash design with the way it flowed from one side to the other.

Few years on and I was browsing the site again out of curiosity and to do some reminiscing and came across this old thread of mine. I've spent a few days going through it finally and re-adding all the images to all the threads linked off this one as they'd long disappeared from the website I used to host them on. Only one I haven't got round to doing yet is the ice thread as that's massive and has more images per post than the site allows me to upload, I'll get round to it at some point.

Quick update from me. Amy and I moved up to Grantham a couple of years ago. I now work from home as a manager of a team of 8 techies for a very large worldwide company.

Oh and as this is a car forum, this is our latest ride (crappy phone pics and we'd only just bought it hence the trade plates and it needing our cleaning touch lol). Audi A4 Avant - SLine - Black Edition - 2.0T petrol (back in a 2.0T yay), 7 speed auto S-tronic gearbox and had it mapped and rolling roaded to 237bhp a couple of weeks ago. Always wanted an Audi and finally got one and love it.
