As I said before I found that out myself that it does not fit. So back to op's question NO, not without swapping the bearing over.

And than I haven't even begun about the difference between the driveahafts amongst the different engines... speak to me again once you battled with a dti or a 1.8 prefacelift with facelift parts.
they don’t sell one different bearing for the 1.9 that would be unworkable….as in pic above only 2 bearings pre and face….

I went to the scrappy when I had this darn bottom bolt fused itself with the knuckle.. so I couldn't remove the arm from the knuckle. I thought to be save to take a the driveahaft with me... 1.9 cdti prefacelift did not fit my driveshaft, they tried the facelift one... that didn't fit either... I went back without a knuckle and drilled the ****** fused bolt out. Took me a whole flipping weekend but I got it out. Look in my diary pictures of it are in there.

As i said i am speaking from experience, and the whole reason why I removed the knuckle was because of the control arm needing replacing, and the bearing was.on it's way out I bought new ones straight from the part number to replace them.

Did you check if it was a 32 or 40 gear box as that would have caused your problem. I think your problem is the gear box m32 then f40.IMG_0623.jpg

You lot are forgetting about the older 5 speed gearboxes.... 1.8xe has it as does the 2.0 and 2.2 dti and that isn't an m32 or f40 but a f28 and the xe has the old f17 gearbox...

Do I need to go into more detail?

Replaced one bearing myself, considering that is a bolt on bearing i don't see why not to upgrade if the owner decides so. Bigger shafts, replace bearings as the knuckle is identical no matter the engine and year.
PS: you will also need to replace the shaft bracket more than certainly but since you already have another one stripped is just a bolt off bolt on job

I work on several cars not just mine people on here tend to forget that... and fine if he does both sides but if he has the f17 the driveshafts will not fit his gearbox... longstory short he can use the knuckle but not without swapping the bearing over.

And that was why I said it won't fit. As it's not a direct fit!

Yes as only 2 bearing for sale pre and facelift. The input shaft into the gear box can be different but the external shaft to nut will be the same.

Right guys thanks for the info on that. Ive pulled the knuckle out of lock up and the drivers side bearing that was still in place was siezed stuck so would have been changed anyway for the newish gm ones fitted to wifes cdti facelift but i spent best part of yesterday trying to remove the bearing as the top bolt on bearing wouldnt come loose and rounded off. So went to local Vauxhall breakers and got one and the fu##cking thing has done the same the top bolt is rounded badly so gonna take it to my dads garage to use heat and figure way of removing. The knuckle i got giving must have been from v6 engine or vxr as my larger brake disc fits into the backing plate where as on wifes i had to trim the back plates. Bearing in scrappy one is extremely tight and probably wrong for my driveshafts. Im not stupid with cars just many heads on 1 problem is solved faster. Thanks again some info for future reference. Actually taking look at most parts left from previous pre facelift they arent the best now been sat few years now so thinking its time to empty the rest and junk it all. Now to fit a flipping rack as mine is leaking and really clunky in 2 places. Was gonna replace seals on it with kit from local distrigo parts hub but think its past that now. Have found a full rack pump and motor for £40 (from someone i trust) but not sure if i want to do it as everyone telling me to put it into garage and let them do it with subframe dropped. Surely theres a way to get it out without touching subframe? Plenty time and plenty tools alot of swearing cursing and shouting im gonna have a go. Thanks again.
