Posted this in the Technicals section a couple of weeks ago, but no response so thought I'd try here.

My brakes are generally fine, they stop the car no problem. I've recently stripped down the front calipers (brake imbalance cautionary on MOT), replaced the fluid and bled them.

A couple of times recently I've noticed a strange occurence when braking gradually from high speed, for instance when coming off a motorway.

If I hold the pedal slightly to slow the car it's absolutely fine, but gets harder as I slow. If I release, then reapply, there's a slight judder, then the pedal softens. The stopping action is fine.

Any ideas for me? ABS pump fault? Or air in the system?

Is it recommended to use Tech2 to fully open the ABS pump when replacing the fluid and bleeding? I've heard people say it is...
