anyone else play squash..

having my first game tonight after about 3 years out - decided to take it up again ....part of my new years resolution, i have purchased a new racket (no its not green - but at least the ball is !!) as no doubt the old one will break in the first 5 minutes of play

so i will probably be a little achey for the next few days as i will be using muscles that havent been flexed for a while and may have a few lumps from ball impacts
any rule changes is should be aware of - like is it still ok to smash the squash ball between the shoulder blades of the opposing player and burst out laughing or has this now been outlawed

...not sure how its going to go - but no pain no gain

I have played it a little around 6years ago and did enjoy it but ended up really doing my knees in and not being able to play again.Hope you have a good game and warm up well before hand.

dont worry there will be plenty of warming up - one of the main reasons i packed in was i used to dislocate my right shoulder on service - i've been doing lots of excersices to hopefully prevent this - i will find out later if its paid off and the rest has done any good -

and Don - its very strategic - i find that if i drop a good eggy one on the left hand side of the court and play the opposition into it they dont go back after the first couple of attempts to brave it out

I used to play, and was enjoyable at a happy amateur level. Stopped playing a few years ago after I busted my ankle playing the game (hasn't been exactly right since) and have now sold my bat and everything.

I used to play with someone who as cr4p as me at it so we used to have a decent few games.

I havent playing in nearly 3 years though but am dying to get back into the routine!

its amazing - just speaking to people at work - i have games lined up for the next 8 weeks and wont even be playing the same person

then were going to arrange a round robin on 3 courts with winner stays on and looser comes off and moved to the next court - should give an opportunity to stand around and get a five minute break in as well

glad i'm starting again now - a good way to help keep fit

Seems to a popular resolution
The squash league in my department at work has just restarted after a 5 year break. Will be giving it a miss though, my knees and right ankle wouldn't take it anymore

I started about 6 months back and play 2 times a week, looking to go up to 4 times a week now. I really enjoy it but sadly it's not helped shed the pounds.

Used to play 5 nights a week but the pint or 3 in the bar afterwards didn't help in the weight loss department
