The work was carried out by my local Vauxhall dealer (£193 inclusive of Trade Club discount on parts) and the Technician showed me the offending pad (O.S.R. inner pad) that was completely down to the metal.

I have had loads of cars but never one that wears out its rear pads before its front pads - so be warned !!!!!

The rear tyre rumbling is also starting again after new tyres were fitted only 3000 miles ago.

I am starting to go off this car.
Just to clarify the discs & pads cost about £60 with Trade Club discount, the other £130 was labour (I am working away from home so did not have the tools, or opportunity to do it myself).

Are you sure the fronts have not been replaced earlier? Regarding the price you paid, something does not add up, tradeclub for rear discs and pads is about £59 + VAT. So you have paid about £135 labour for a job that takes 40 minutes to do.

I just had all four discs and pads changed with trade club discount, AND an oil change and the whole job came up to about £250. That was with my VX dealer as well.

Sorry, already posted this before I read your reply, but £130 labour by a Vauxhall dealer is very high indeed.

I agree, and reckon this is the main reason why the rears wear so fast (every 30k for me). The rear of the pad looks big, but the pad surface itself is small; the pads are quite heaviliy tapered on either side.

You are right - something does not add up, and it is me !!!

parts were £60.03 (incl Trade Club discount) and labour was £96.60 which totals at £156.63.

My car is a former Vauxhall management car from Luton, bought by me at 6 months old with 6800 on the clock. I do not think anything had been done to this car prior to it being sold to me so I am sure the front brakes are still original.
