    Default Drivers seat removal

Hi, I need to get some repairs done to my front drivers seat, which requires it to be removed from the car. Can anyone give me any tips on doing this, do the side airbags just unplug?? Do you need any special tools etc??

    Thanks
    Kev

The seat itself is fairly self explanatry just a couple of large star bolts and it slides out, There will be a plug underneath for the airbag and the seatbelt detonater, be warned though if you unplug these and remove the seat im 99% sure you will have to then have your airbag light extinguished via tech 2 or similar when you re-fit and reconnect the plugs,

Is there no way you can do what you need to do with the seat in the car? When its un-bolted from the floor its fairly manouverable, without un-doing any plugs.

You dont need to remove the side airbags buddy unless your re trimming the seat.

Disconnect battery leave for 30 mins for airbag to discharge then slide the seat forward on the rails there are two t40 bolts at the back undo them, then at the side you will have another torx bolt holding the seat belt to the seat remove this then tilt the seat up towards the front and you will see the plug under the seat unplug this and pull back the seat slightly and then lift out.

As long as you wait for the airbags to discharge you will have no warning light HTH

Well to remove airbag once its removed from car take rear fabric pannel off (just pull from bottom) then you will see iirc three 8 or 7 mm bolts its a bit tight but you can push down on springs to get better access, once you have it out theres a clip on top of the air bag just pop this up and remove wiring

Not quite true. If you don't wait for it to discharge then it could go off. As long as you do not put the ignition on while the airbag is disconnected you will not get the light on

But if you've cleverly disconnected the battery this shouldn't be an issue

Your not risking the light coming on but risking an arm coming off lol the reason you take battery off is to discharge the airbags to stop them arming when your taking them out.
Just because it hasn't happend doesn't mean it wont and why take the risk for a 2 min job ?
