Traction control

Is it just a matter of fitting a switch to be able to turn off the traction control. What difference does it make to the driveability of the car.

It won't work. Only pre-facelift, non canbus cars work if you fit the switch.

All models (EXC V6 and 2.0 Turbo) built after 24th October 2005 did not have any TC fitted at all.

Exactly, thats what I have done as I hate blank switches.

It sounds like your car has TC, but it is pretty much guaranteed that the switch won't work. Your dash will have the loom like all dash's, but it won't be linked to anything.
