    Default Servicing & tyres

I visited a local garage on Saturday that specialises in Vauxhalls (not a dealer). I need my CDTI signum servicing (main service, 4 years old, 56k miles).

I was quoted £109 for oil, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter & labour including wheels off for brakes check etc. Does this seem a fair price? How does it compare to main dealer prices. Should anything else be done at this age/mileage?

Also asked about cam belt change including pulleys, tensioners and water pump. He's going to ring me back with a price. What have others paid for this?

Also looking at a pair of Kumho KU31's. Have been quoted £75 each including fitting, balancing etc. Fair deal????

That's not a bad price at all, if it's all genuine parts. I think the handbook also mentions renewing the coolant and brake fluid every four years so it might be worth getting a quote for those too.

Brake fluid change is recommended every 2 yrs. I thought Vauxhall's these days use the long life coolant? Something like 5 or 10 yr stuff.

AndyR - is the dealer going to use the correct oil? 5w/30 long life fully synth.

If the waterpump's being done it'll have fresh coolant anyway.

It includes genuine Vauxhall parts. I'm guessing it will be the recommended oil (I'll ensure it is) and it's at a local garage, Vauxhall Repair Centre in Ilkeston, Derbyshire.

I'll be getting the cambelt & waterpump done in a few months, so the coolant will get changed then.
