Head into Lamberis and follow the Lamberis pass through Snowdonia as its a really nice drive and the scenery is superb. Lamberis also has a Slate Museum and the Power Station in the mountain where you can have a trip into it.
Ive been going to that area for years and have only just come back from a weekend in Anglesy.
Sounds good, nice one
You can also go crabbing off the harbour wall near the castle, which I have done many a time and can be fun and while you are there you can get boat trips up the Menei Straits which is quite good too as you get to see just what dangerous waters the straights are.
There is a small Aviation Museum at Carnarfon Airfield which has a few historic planes etc init and a long stretch of beach consisting of sand and cobbles, thats at Dinas Dinlle which is heading out of Carnarfon on the Pethelie road. Excuse spellings as Welsh town names can be hard to say never mind spell
Ill look out for all that cheers. Like crab fishing me and my lad did loads at deven a few years back.
+1 snowdonia. nice place to drive through - the A4086 route is a good one as mentioned, and also the A5 through the Ogwen Valley, then A55 over to the isle of anglesey if you've got time, is worth doing.
if you're that way inclined, a walk up one of the hills (snowdon or the glyders) is also very good.
here's a video of the A4086 i found http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fiCNUV52QC4
