Default 3.0 DTi Signum EM light with spanner?

Ok I've read the other threads surrounding this topic and I feel a bit better about sorting it...
    BUT
When my light came on, the engine died and wouldn't re-start....Green flag came out and towed it to nearest garage...driver suggested the turn over was too fast and therefore the cambelt has gone....

I guess I need the codes reading

Garage took the car in and gave it the once over and noticed a gaping tear in one of the pipes 'leading from the turbo'

Would this common fault cause the car to stop and never to start?

I'm looking for kind words of a cheap fix and lots of support here please...
oh and the pipe I need has to come direct from Germany, none in the country?!!

    thanks

It wouldn't help with a hole like that. Did he not check if the cambelt was gone or not? Its not officially due till 100k or 10 years. He only needed to remove one bolt to have a look at the belt!! Without the codes its very difficult to tell, did the GF man not read them and tell you what they were?

Get used to parts for the 3.0dti/cdti comming from germany as most dealers know nothing of this engine!

It is odd how the GF guy AND the current mechanic haven't reported back given like you say its only a case of taking the cover off..... but I'l ring them again tomorrow to check.

Incidentally the cambelt was done September 2008. approx 20k miles ago...

Please god let it just be the 'pipe'....

    thanks for your thoughts though!

The car would start, it would only be in limp mode with no power. The engine not starting at all could mean the fuel pump is gone....

Maybe not that common but surely expensive...I was quoted 3300€ for a new fuel pump from Opel.

Some of the guys on here suggested it is just a couple of seals that need to be replaced in order to make the fuel pump work again. Should cost about £200-300ish
