idle idle? haunted car lol!!

hi guys not bin on for a while but i know you will have the answers, my 2.2 has stated acting up, while driving the car is fine (most of the time,read on) but when i come to a stop the car almost cuts out, the revs drop right down jumps around a bit then settles fine, weird, even weirder and very scary is something that has happened twice now. i can be driving along as happy as larry when the car suddenly starts to accelerate of its own accord, brakes dont do anything and the only way to stop is turn off the ignition. very scary lol,car starts back up with no prblem and runs fine apart from the exhaust emision light comes on then goes of after a couple of trips. any help before i arse end someone would be great.
