Default VX Discount on New cars for Military Personell, Retired or Serving.

I notice while browsing the VX website that there is a mention that VX give a discount on new cars to Military personell, and applies to current serving, and retired personell such as myself.

Has anyone ever taken advantage of these discounts, or is it purely a load of bunkum, as I suspect it probably only applies to full list price which no one ever pays anyway.

On this subject, would signing up to their GM card really save any money when buying a new car. Anyone use a GM card..?

ie. can you sign up to the card and immediately go and buy a new car and get some sort of discount. ?

I've never received any discounts on my new cars except any I can hassle out of the dealer.

Yeah, the military discount isn't really worth much unless you pay full list price, but it exists because the forces use Vauxhalls and Fords as their hire cars and as vehicles to get round the station, and make a fortune from them in doing so...

wonder if they'll give me my ex forces discount and THEN take off the discount for being a police officer? That would be nice but not a chance in hell i'm sure!

I looked into this, it only worked out worth while if I bought it whilst I was abroad... but I had to keep it there for at least 12 months! They do the tax free and tax paid options I think still, not discounts as such...
