Default Problem with 52 plate 2.0dti fuelling

Ok a friend at work has a friend who is a taxi driver. He has a 52 plate vectra 2.0dti. He is experiancing problems starting the car if its left for and hour or more. 1st thing of a morning it starts fine from cold, then it runs fine all day, if its left for 5 or 10 mins it starts fine aswell, but if he leaves it for more than an hour it takes appox 10 mins to start it and whilst cranking its puffing out white smoke. Upto now he has changed glowplugs, fuel filter and head, injector leak off pipes and injector seals. Now last night my friend a mechanic serviced it and had another look, he took the testing kit from work to check the leak off on the injectors but the pipes was too big to fit on the vectra, so he cracked the injectors off to get the air out and it then took him about half an hour to get any diesel up and get it started again. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions as to what may be the problem, we're now thinking injectors or pump? its not common rail either by the way, any suggestipons or help would be greatly appreciated as he has even had it in the local diesel garage and they didn't know what the problem was

    thanx Paul

If it starts and runs fine is most definitely NOT injectors or fuel pump. If it were the fuel pump it wouldn't start at all...

Hi, I have a 2.0dti astra van thats my day to day. Had a similar prob with it a few years ago, after a vauxhall dealer service. The fuel filter housing was not sealed correctly, thus letting in air. The problem was worse when parked nose up on an incline. Hope this helps Ian.

A good chance its the injector seals.
Or most people will say check the fuel lines and conectors and also the filter housing.

I have heard that its a possible small timing issue too but cant see that on a chain engine.
