Default Best wax type product for protection?

As a number of you probably know, I'm getting my front bumper resprayed along with the other bits that are being sprayed when my car is being repaired. The bumper was stone chip city and I want it looking as new. So, once it's resprayed I want to keep it protected and chip free for as long as possible.

What products/waxes are out there that will give a really tough protective coating and minimise the chances of stone chips?

And no, I'm not in the market for the Xymol £6K stuff!!

I guess a good carnuba wax would be best? If so, I don't mind paying for a decent one - just not telephone number prices!

    Cheers

If you build up good layers of products - polish, glaze and wax, and then use some speed wax to top it up weekly you should be as good as any other. I personally love megs no21 and PoorBoyz Nattys Blue - the no21 really brings out the pearl / metallic and the wax gives a nice deep shine. Very much recommend that above for a dark coloured car. The trick is weekly top ups with speed wax - it only takes 15mins longer than a normal wash.

    Thanks Ian

I've been using AG products so far. Super Resin Polish, Extra Gloss Protection - no wax product as such. Would the EGP be classed as a glaze, or not? Just seeing if I need to get something else instead of the EGP. I've heard of the AG Ultra Deep Shine, and some good things about it, but where would that sit in the process?

I guess I should be asking this on DW, but I'd get bombarded with so many options my head would spin!

You mean things like Sureguard, or an actual plastic film over the paint? If the latter, doesn't it show at the edges?

Duncan i have some megs # 21 sealant i can send you. I have a huge bottle.

I have just done my bonnet over the last week i clayed it then did

1 coat mezerna final polish 2
1 coat mezerna finishing touch glaze
    2 coats megs #21 sealant
2 coats megs step 3 pure carnuba wax

very pleased with results and reckon on a dark car would look great. I reckon if you use what you have got then add a sealant and then i'm sure i read carnuba wax is very tough. Sadly inevitable that stone chips will still happen though. Have you thought about that protection film stuff?

i would recommend that as a min you use the AG super resin first (acts a cleaner & polish combined) then apply some no 21 sealant to really bring out the metallic and give a good base for the wax. The a nice light coat of Nattys Blue. You will only need to do this two - three times a year if you use spray was with the occasional top up of Nattys Blue. Both no 21 and Nattys Blue can be bought for say £25 from our Approved Trader Clean & Shiny ( I got some stuff from them recently and top notch service btw).

    Hope this helps

Edit - or you could some No21 from Graeme!!!
