SRi 17" Alloys...width?

Quick easy question:
17" standard SRi (pre facelift) alloys - what width are they, I'd guess 7" or 7.5"
I'm looking at tyre options as at 32k (swapped around at 20k) they're all looking a little low on tread. Still legal though, but I prefer to dump them before they wear to less than 3mm.
215/50's, 225/45's or even 235/45's.........decisions,decisions

I switched to 225/45 as 215/50 were a lot more expensive...... the tyre place couldn't understand why I wanted to swap, and wouldn't let me have the 225's until I showed them the Handbook where it shows 225's as a recommended size.

did you notice any change to the handling etc when you stuck the new tyres on Jamie?? There is quite a difference in the price right enough..

I'm pretty sure they're 7J. Go with the 225/45/17 Doug, I don't think 235's would be a good idea, they may be too wide for the rim, besides,they are silly money too! You won't be disappointed with the 225's. I've got Goodyear F1's on the back and its like a different car. Where it was nervous on the 215's, it just sits and grips. Can't wait for the fronts to wear out!!

7.5 x 17" and I would go for 225 45 17", but get Tech 2 to change the tyre aspect ratio to keep the speedo right.

Thanks Matt, at my local Costco 225's are considerably cheaper than 215's so I too think that's the best way to go.
So it's 225/45ZR17's Michelin Pilot Sports @ £119 each fitted, valved and balanced. I've shopped around and can't find a better deal anywhere.
