The wife doing school runs and shops etc. is only getting 24mpg
What do you people get, seems thirsty but she is heavy (just over 1.5tons).

Just had a flick through the original brochure and the stats for the 2.2 seem to be as follows -
Urban - 23.7 (manual)20.8 (auto)
Extra Urban 42.2 (manual) 40.9 (auto)
Combined 32.8 (manual) 30.1 (auto)
So from this - sadly looks like she is about right
I must admit, the bl00dy school run is a nightmare, even for my lovely diesel - fabulous on long runs, but Mon - Fri school trips often reduce me to about 38pmg!! (Although still showing about right as per the spec brochure!)
(Can't resist the comment - I DO hope its the car and not your good lady who is 1.5 tonnes!! )
my 1.8 does around 32-34 round town, goes down to about 29 if my right foot is a bit heavy...I havent done any long runs yet so im not sure on that one but the mpg seems better since putting a k&n filter in...
im glad you asked that mrs D, i didnt wish to be rude
My average is around 35mpg better to maybe 40mpg on a run and i have a fairly heavy right foot.
My old luv, you are doing well on short cold starts, I had a 2.2 Omega auto and it did 19 at night and 16 in the day, 24 is spangly, nothing wrong with it at all, you been reading and listening to the bull brigade, oooh my 5.7 Mustang gives 56 in the town and 98 on a run etc, if anything your car is performing par excellence.

And see Mrs D's post, if Vx can only get 23mpg in the urban, why do tits post they get more, official figures dont consider traffic etc, so in fact you are getting the max from her.
We don't all drive taxis, waiting on ranks with the engine running to keep warm, full up with shoppers and shopping, fighting through city centre traffic, running the metre up at the lights, stopping & starting short journeys, whizzing around cutting old ladies and learners up...
My average falls somewhere between Extra Urban and combined, it's by no means an exaggeration. If I drive around town centres that figure does drop quite rapidly.
Thats true, but the taxining doesn't alter the figures that much, if someone gets 22+ from a 2.0 engine on the urban they are doing well, so well I'd be prepared to bet a grand that I'm right, look at the official figures, they are the best attainable, anything over is a bonus.
As an old deceased mate used to say to me, Ian ain't it funny how we always get the **** car.
Listen here
2.5 V6 omega = 17 mpg urban
2.2 Omega = 19 Urban
2.0 Vectra DTi = 30 -35 mixed
2.0 Cavalier auto = 22 mpg manual = 26 mpg urban
Listen to the fantasy ppl if you like, I've owned em driven em and full tank rated em, you will never get more than what the official figure say.
Example...... Zafira 1.9 TDi auto 23 mpg urban, as tested by auto express.
And before anyone posts their display, I can make mine look like its doing 48mpg all day long, the reality is it does 34mpg and I think thats very good from a turbo charged engine.
