New model gear stick

I had an Astra before going back to the Vectra and I loved the gear stick in the Astra. I see that the 08 model Vectra's now have the same gear stick. Does anyone know if it would be a straight forward change. I have an 06 150 CDTi, could I get a complete stick/lever from a newer model and change it over?

Dont see why not as long as they are both 5 speed. Someone will confirm though.

I'm having it done in germany next week. Costs about 340,- euro incl gearstick OPC line, without the opc logo on it...

Getting my new gear stick today. Has anyone done this to their car. I know the centre console will have to come out to fit it but are there any points I need to know along the way, i.e. the gear cables etc.

Wouldnt it be easier just trying to get the knob off and change them over ?

Hi bigmac, unfortunately you cant because of the reverse lifter being a part of the knob. Having looked at it I think it is only 4 bolts and the 2 cable clips so it shouldn't be that bad.

Hi Penfold101, I never got it fitted because the company I bought it from didn't look at the pictures I sent them and sent me the wrong one. They haven't got any other gear sticks and I am not paying the full price from Vx. Good luck fitting yours and let me know how you get on.

Will do mate. Hopefully it looks quite straight forward, but I'll see exactly what turns up in the post as to how much I have to take apart...
