confused How do you disconnect the window switches.

My Signum (Design) driver's door electric window switch has gone dodgy on the right-down contact. I tried to get it out to try to clean the contact but how on earth do you disconnect that connector on the back? Didn't want to completely wreck it because all other contact work fine, I just couldn't work out how to get it free so I could work on it with more than 3" working space - didn't help that my hand's were getting frozen trying to work on it.

The connector has a locking mechanism. You have to release it and push it to one side... then the connector just pulls out.

    Easier to do than describe

It looked and felt like it was "locked" in some some way, I just couldn't work it out in the few minutes I was prepared to work outside on it. I've the garage cleared so will be able to work on it a bit more easily tonight. Any more details, e.g. do you push anything inwards, pull up/sideways etc?

Anyone stripped one of these switches before to clean the contacts? Am into electronics so have contact cleaner etc, so that doesn't worry me but anyone done this and aware of af stupid things like springs that pop out when you open up the switch itself?

    Many thanks.

It's fairly obvious when you look at it how to release the lock. There's a little clip that swings to one side, then the connector can pull out.

Once you get the switch out, there's two small screws to undo, then unclip the backplate. Hold it with the switches facing down and nothing will fall out. There are no springs, only a couple of plastic "pushrods".

When you take the back off, you will be able to lift out the PCB and the switch membrane.

Give everything a clean and put it back together again.

When my switch didn't work, I just removed it and squirted switch cleaner / lubricant into the cracks next to the rockers at the same time operating the switch firmly. This worked without having to dismantle the switch. HTH
