Default Need some new wax - stick with my Collinite 476s, or change?

    yet another wax question!

As above, my latest tin of 476s has now run out - and to be fair it lasted a damn long time - so I need some wax for a winter prep. The 476s seemed to be one of the best for longevity and especially for prepping for winter, but things change - new products etc. - so is there anything else should consider or is there a 'definite must have' out there that I should have. Dark blue car if that helps at all.

Also, reading something that Stevel said, should I be changing my stages i.e. normally I'd clay, if needed, polish (couple of times a year with Megs Stage 1), then apply #21 and then the Collinite. Then from then on, until the next clay, I'd only do the #21 and wax as needed after a wash.

What I read/understood was that it's now not considered the thing to do to sue a sealer and a wax?, or have I misunderstood? Again, just wondering what the best thing to do is. I've got a fair bit of #21 left so if that was still something worth using then it's sat here. I did like the #21 on my car/paint colour as it really gave it a nice zip and obviously added the sealing - but open to any other suggestions.

Oh, and nothing too exotic or pricey please -not after I've just shelled out £1000+ on my flywheel and clutch parts and fitting!

    D.

You can go Sealent>Wax no problem. It's Glaze>Sealent>Wax that's the issue as the sealent may not bond properly to the glaze.

As I really like using A glaze the sealent has had to go for me but I layer the wax anyway.

In terms of a Winter Wax I'd stick with Collinite with either the 476 or you could try 915. Both did well in Iain's test on DW.

What exactly is the difference between the two? I've never seen it described/explained definitively.

Yeah, thanks - I can send some of those. Where do I get them from?

Also, best place to get the 915? I got the 476 from Elite and I don't see AutoBrite listing it as an item they sell. Go back to Elite?

915 allegedly has a higher Carnauba content but it's marginal in terms of whether you'd notice any difference in durability especially as you're sealing it first.

I use Black Pearl in the summer and 915 in the winter on my Black Sapphire Vec. The BP produces tighter beading but other than that I can't see any difference.

On C's Flame Red Astra I use Natty's red in the summer and 915 in the winter. The Natty's definitely produces A richer red finish but the muck is not as easy to remove as the 915 where it just falls away as soon as the Snowfoam hits it.

    edit. AB don't sell Collinite.
