Gearchange- what to check first?

I've decided to do something about the awful gearchange in my 120 CDTi - from 1st to 2nd usually generates a 'crunch' or a lot of resistance (as if the clutch wasn't fully disengaged). Its getting a bit tiresome in traffic queues.

At the last service (70k) the gearbox oil level was checked and was OK.

So whats the next best thing to check/adjust and how?

- Gear linkage cables - adjustable?
- Clutch itself (hydrualic I believe no no adjustment?)
- New gearbox

You might consider changing the gearbox oil and re-bleeding the hydraulic clutch.

I had the gear linkage adjusted a few times on mine under warranty, TBH it don't make much difference.
