    Default got the signum detailed

met up with a guy called steve from detailing world yesterday.drove up to leeds from rotherham and met steve at 8.30am,never met him before and was pleasently surprised to find he's one of the nicest blokes iv'e ever met.anyway after a quick natter it was down to bussiness but things did not go to plan,as we found out the karcher was frozen solid .after a bit of fiddling steve decided it would be best to wash the car by hand.so heres how the day progressed.the car was washed via the two bucket method, meguires all perpose cleaner was used on trim, wheels and tyres and left to soak while we washed the car.its the first time iv'e used a lambs wool wash mit and have to say they are fantastic, whatever you do throw away your sponge and buy one of these.unfortunatly there are no before pictures because of the way things started out, sorry!.finally with the car washed the hose pipe was used on very low pressure to bead the water off the car leaving it almost dry.now it was time to dry the car using meguires deatail spray and water magnet. the water magnet was laid on the car and lifted from one end, this was repeated on the whole car until fully dry.the car was then clayed, with last touch spray being used as a lubricant.the amount of grime the clay removed had to be seen to be belived wow.steve then did a paint thickness test on the car which was found to be ok.steve decided to use the pc with meguires speed glaze #80 with a sonus sfx whit pad, once the whole car had been done a meguires microfibre was used to remove and buff the remaining polish.we then used mothers sealer and glaze applied by applicator pads again removed by a micro fibre, then it was time to use mothers reflections car was again applied and removed in the same way.finally the last coat of mothers advanced top coat was applied to top off.the tyres, trim and arches were treated with meguires hyper dressing, glass cleaned with meguires glass cleaner.once that lot had been left to soak in it was time to go round the paint work with a supreame shine microfibre, here's the end result.

Nice job. Its interesting that Steve has used Mothers as they don't seem to get much attention on forums such as DW. Its also nice to see what Megs #80 glaze looks like on Star Silver. Think I might have to get some in for the spring (if it comes !!).
Mines the same car, I use AG Vinyl & Rubber cleaner on the tyres and sills and it works well, nice satin finish, not a blingy look and it goes a long way.

nice one Gary, another happy customer with a shiny car. Its amazing the difference it makes isnt it, the photos just dont do the results justice.

Scottex, dont think the AG vinyl rubber care isnt a top item. I use it all the time for under arches, trims, skirts etc and best of all for dressing the engine in. Iv ejust ordered a gallon of the trade version, Supersheen as i go through so much of it.

Mothers is aparantly a very good brand, but as you say, not mentioned much. Maybe its a well kept secret which hasnt gone all bright colours and Max power style comercialised like meguiars yet. Never tried it myself, but hear the name often.

With regard to Steve using Mothers.........we were at a Mothers detailing day in december where a lot of products were used and we cherry picked the ones we thought were the best as good as any on the market..........Steve spent a fortune ...........also I think what Steve used has been tailored to the fact that Gary's car is Silver which can be the decider when it comes to which product to use and the same applies to certain other products aswell like Optimum Car Wax which again is excellent when used on silver

The Sealer & Glaze is an exceptional product and leaves a cracking sheen to the paintwork................for those not in the know, as has been said above, the pictures can't possibly do the car justice and if you have never used clay then just give it a go I guarantee you will not believe how "FILTHY " your car is............and when I say finthy I'm not beeing cheeky it's just a true

Nice job Gary it's looking superb

Bryan, if you hear of another Mothers detailing day can you let us know. I wouldn't find going if "life" doesn't get in the way at the time.

I'll have to pay more attention to Mothers products and have a look.

Hi Scottex........here's a link for Mothers stuff: -

    http://www.motherswax.co.uk/products/clothing.htm

They have recently reduced their prices by as much as 60% and that's true I have the previous brochure sitting in front of me.

Also Scott you'll have PM in a mo.
