Not good news!!!
GM Europe is literally the only thing stopping GM going bust, they're the only part of the group actually making a profit.
Oh dear....
I believe Hummer is going to be bought by a russian billionaire (they're buying everything!!!) so who knows, possbile buy out could be on the books.....
Also found out today the NHS is cutting 900 admin posts in N.Ireland, which means my job is up the spout!!!
There are numerous rumours doing the rounds in work last night, but can't reveal any sorry. However I can say that at the moment we are only working a maximum 3 day week in Ellesmere Port. I have just finished 2 weeks of nights and have worked a total of 4 nights out of a possible 8. There is a good chance we are going to have a 2 week shut down in the next couple of weeks. We have known for ages that GM are in the s@it and that GM Europe have been keeping them afloat but I suppose it can only go on for so long.

It gets worse every day
Taffy (I'm welsh as well BTW) sorry to add more woe.... I'm in a smiliar boat as well mate. My contract ends at the end of March and today I find out massive cuts are going to be made.....
My only advice mate is to get some evening classes on the go... get trained up as much as possible. Its crap having to do it but believe me, the more skills you have....
Also there's always KFC and McDonalds to work in... fast food resturants always climb in business during bad economic (recession) times!!!
