Default The Airbox Mod That Nobody Does

HI ALL, i have done the air box mod (long time ago) but reading through the posts i have saw that you can mod the top of the airbox too. there is a pipe that comes into the top of it (just beside the air meter) and i`ve read that this can be cut away to make the airbox mod even better. However i have also read on here that this is potentially dangerours to the air flow meter and shouldn`t be done......but saying that people have also said that the vxr has this mod done as standard so there is a lot of conflicting info. basically what i want to know is has anybody done this? and if so has it caused any damage and lastly does anybody know if indeed the vxr has this as standard or am i going to be the first to say "ffs this wrecked my airflow meter" LOL

    cheers in advance!!

yeah same as mate i had a y reg sri astra (1.8) and done the airbox mod (both parts) without any problems....i must say the difference between the airbox mod in the astra and vec was huge. tbh the mod in the vectra was hardly noticable, so its got me thinking maybe the top bit needs to come out to as, if you want more air into the airbox you need to get more air OUT as well and the top pipe is restricting it. have read on here not to do this tho..
