Day 2

Well after giving it a quick clean and a little polish in places I decided to strip the front end off. This is as far as I can go now til I get the new parts

. The only thing I have noticed is I am sure the new rad I have upstairs has only one fan, and the one I took off has two fans on the radiator.

. I used underbody sealer to keep any bare metal in good condition when I removed the slam panel. Next thing to do is look for new parts..

Well, I have just started her up after checking the oil and I noticed cream on the end of the dip stick! I removed the oil cap and noticed it on that also. Now when it started up it sounded fine, a few more seconds and it stated to sound rattley, just like the chain does when it's due to go. Looks like I will be getting a new chain on this and a head gasket done now.

could be condonsation mark if not then the head gasket might of gone

but the work progress is top notch m8 keep it up

Has it been run too long with the rad damaged to cause the head gasket?? does look nice all cleaned up there

Not sure how long it's been running with the radiator broke. I am not giving up though, as the car it's self is mint

. I might even try and do the cam chain myself to save cash. I have had a 2.2 Astra before that had the same symptoms as this one has, cream in the engine. It turned out to have a split in the chamber the spark plug goes into, making it fill up with water. I never got to hear the engine when it was delivered yesterday, I started it up only for a few seconds when I got home. Then today I fired it up to move it and it started to make a noise from the cam chain area.
