    Cheers Rob, It pee'd down for a few days but then it was luvly and hot, had a good time thanks, feel like cr4p now, got stuck in the eurotunnel for nearly 3 hours this morning due to the freight train in front of us breaking down and it was so hot, it was getting on for 30 degrees by the time we got out...

    at least i now know im not claustrophobic

    Yes, I agree Tony, the build quality is very poor.
    Overheating it like that makes it really hot inside, hot enough for the solder to melt and reflow remaking the connections to the various components where there are bad solder joints.

    These consoles are now under 3 years warranty for red ring of death, but not freezing problems like yours.. thats only covered by a standard one year warranty.

    Thanks Dean mate!

    I now think it's not an overheat problem. I followed the online instructions - removed the hard drive etc. & it ran for ages without freezeing.

    Matt deleted some files from there & I was going to clear the cache as it instructs.

    He put it back on just to try it (Impatient!) & it's worked perfect now for about 1/2 hour

    I've heard a few people (Karl Included) say that when they have had their's freeze they phone up MS and tell a little porky and say that they have the 3 red rings on the console and MS still repair it anyway.. Might be worth a try....
