Run Flat Tyres

The wife has run flat tyres on her car the rears are only 2 months old,she came home this evening and informed me that the light in the car was telling her that she had a tyre that needed some air,so i got of my lazy bum to go find which tyre needed air, i found out it was the rear right so got the compressor out of my car and started to inflate the tyre only to hear the air hissssing out somwhere,on closser inspection i found a stanley knife blade stuck in the tyre.
I think the blade was placed under her wheel while she was at work, most likely by some scroat.
I have been told that the run flat tyres can not be repaired is this true?

They must work then if she got back home ok ? You should be able to get them repaired, they cost enough

By just looking at them you cant tell they are flat.Hope it can be repaired as it was £130 .

Hiya m8, it all depends how bad is the damage to the tyre. In general terms the run flats cannot be repaired at all but recently at my training I was informed they can be repaired only once if the the puncture is within 75% of the middle section of the tyre, this applies only to the punctures caused by screws, nails, etc. I am not sure if u can repair damage caused by the knife blade as this is classed as cut in general.
My advise would be to get it checked over for repair at the local garage, worst case scenario ur looking to buy a new tyre. Hope this helps m8, good luck:-)))

why the foook would anyone do that sort of thing to her, i wuld be baying for blood and getting the cost of the tyre repair/replacment back f-in ******'s, any cctv at her work mate

Well there is a few folk non to keen on her

.There is some cctv where she works she is going to check it on wednesday when she is back at work.The "customers" exit is into the workers carpark

Should be classed as attempted murder if it's found to be malicious - idiots, stupid idiots. I hope it turns out to be just one of those unlucky situations where no one is to blame and that the tyre can be repaired. If its a slice as opposed to a puncture then i think its a new tyre time tbh.

I HATE run flats, they spoilt the ride on my cooper s, they are a good idea, just crap to drive on.

Oh, and good luck with a repair, I tried 5 places before buying a full set of NON run flats instead of paying for another tyre. (shows how much I hated them)
