    Default Test Drive

Having been on here for a couple of months in looks like i'm now ready to purchase a Vectra Cdti 150 Sri. I drove both the 120 and 150 variants today and am set on the 150 due to the examples condition, price and extra power!

Couple of questions I wondered if someone could help me with though. I noticed that upon start up on both cars there was a smell of burning oil coming from the exhaust and i noted that whilst driving the 150 model there was a few blows of smoke going past me at the first set of traffic lights. The salesman said the car had not moved for a good few weeks so expected this to be the cause. I would like to believe him due to it occuring on both cars, both from different garages!

Also, I believe that the '05 plate Vectras have a bluetooth function for mobiles. How do you go about activating this. One of the salesmen said you would need to get Vauxhall to install a kit?! I would really like this and does it work through the cars dash display system etc?!

    Thanks for any help.

Look forward to purchasing one very soon and becoming an official member of the forum.

    Hi Keith,

Bluetooth isn't a standard feature, it would also be pohibitively expensive to retrofit. It requires all sorts of modules to be installed, not to mention a session on a dealers computer to wake the functions on the ecu! You'll be better off with a Parrot or similar anyway.

As for the smoke, Diesels by nature will smoke anyway. I don't think it's anything to worry about. Try taking the car for an extended 'thrash'. you'll soon know if anything is amiss.

    Good luck!

Thanks for the information there fella, Imust have been misinformed by the salesman then. So what does the top left button on the steering wheel of such a Vectra do?! It looks like an echo symbol of some description?!

    Top left steering wheel.....

On mine it toggles between folders on an MP3, I think it's the waveband select on radio... I remember the one underneath selects the source.

Oh, and it restarts a conventional CD.

Thanks. Nice to have had a few questions answered anyway! Is there no way to have a phone kit through the dash display then?

Going to sort out a deal with the salesman tomorrow. Will let you know how I get on.

Basically what Andrew said, bluetooth can be retrofitted but it would be cheaper to buy the parrot kit.

On my last vec that button toggled through the stored stations on the radio and set the cd track
back to the beginning iirc, on my current one with bluetooth it's for the voice activated dialling.

So it would work as bluetooth voice activated dialling then or to answer calls etc? So, I would need to get a parrot kit to link this up? What type of parrot kit would I need?

Sorry for all the silly questions guys!

You won't get a Parrot to hook up to the steering controls, Keith.

Believe me, it's hard enough tp get aftermaket stereo's to work with them!

Good luck with striking the deal.
