Brown trouser Moment !!!

Well, for the first time since owning the car I had my 1st Good Ole Ring Piece Puckered up Brown trouser Moment

I always like to drive my cars where ever the road permits

Today was no exception Apart from !!!!

Nice undulating stretch of country road (Travelled it many times) There is a Junction off to the Left which exits in a Y Shape & goes uphill to a set of Hairpin Bends , One Left with bad camber & the other a right hander with perfect camber, The type you can get all the power down & fling yourself out from it
So im romping along at the national Speed limit Exit left, 2 cars at the Y junction, So indicate left to make my intentions known, Put down the power again & push the Indicator left again to cancel it ( hardly a turn at the junction so no self cancel) The Nasty hair pin is approaching & im still powering on in 3rd, I never brake here, just change down to 2nd, So i back off & ?????
The ****er keeps going at the speed i took the junction at !! Going on i thought !!

I wrestle with the Steering , Press the accelerator, Still no change in Speed, ARghhh, Poo Poo Time, Eventually i dab the brake & really upset the cars balance .. Revs Die..

Blimey That Cruise Control is Easy to Activate !!

i've aslo done that with a caravan on the back, and 4 people in the car, nearly had 4 lots of brown trousers. lol

on my old vectra 04 if you hit resume under max acceleration it would continue to accelerate as if your foot was glued to the floor. I did it once on a roundabout, hence i left the roundabout very quickly. All I can say is that I am glad it was in the old 2.0DTi not the current V6 CDTi now that would have been a brown trouser moment!!!

I've done that a couple of times coming off roundabouts.
Some cars have an on/off switch for the cruise control, which I sometimes think would be a good idea! My Mitsubishi Galant had a dashboard switch and a very important looking pair of warning lights, saying something like "cruise enabled" and "cruise engaged".

had a little moment few weeks back with new tyres coming off a roundabout... deffo gave me a heart flutter!

I'd hate to think what it would be like accidently activating cruise in the VXR... especially under full acceleration...
