    TBH the crunch noise sounds like some plastic - like the trim round the handbrake - i am going to assume here that no car make in the world would make handbrake components from plastic - ie the ratchet and pawl mechanism under the leaver.

    i've never been one for murdering my handbrake ie yanking it up as to rip it out of the chasiss, as not to over stretch the cable so its normaly three notches on flat ground but it has to be four or hold it up with thumb on button for hill starts,ive never considered having a problem but do think it dont grip well unless aplied well ie as per sticker with foot brake applied i ALWAYS leave it in gear regardless in any circumstances maybe its a good rule if you suspect your handbrake aint as good as previous cars you've had,its just a poorer handbrake than we've been used to or combination of handbrake and driver error not that i would ever admit that !!!!

    yes toke it to the dealers and yes i have to get new mech in this dam car had nothing but trouble since i got it 3 diffs 1 full gear box now this when do you say right thats it i need to stop spending money on this and sell the bl00dy thing

    why is there no mention of this handbrake problem in Germany ? Its the same hardware. I saw the watchdog programe, and its scarey stuff.
