    Default 2nd service 2005 face lift 1.9cdti

Had a letter from the dealer to say due the 2nd service. Got the car just about a year ago with 8000mile on the clock. Have hardly used it only 11000 miles on it now and thought I had to wait until the little light comes on before it needs a service. Does it really need brake fluid change etc. Will be really over serviced at this rate. Anyone else had lots of servicing and very few miles?

I can see your point in regards to over servicing but if you want the warranty to stay valid as you'll still have 1 year left you need to get a service done mate, as if something went wrong in your last tear of the warranty you'd be kicking yourself for not getting it done!!

Get it done just to cover yourself. I bought mine at 6 month old with 2940 miles on it. At the 1 year mark it had done 8200 miles got it service'd.
Now it's a year and half and still only got 11600 on it.
For the sake of 120 notes it's peace of mind.

Looks like I should get it done then if only to keep the warranty.and peace of mind.

I know it makes sense, its just the changing of hydraulic oil at 11000 miles, can't be a very good oil. Mind you I once had a couple of servicing where they charged me for a top up of hyd fluid on each one and it wasn't till I pointed out that if they had put that amount in I must have a big leak. The total being more than the system capacity. Their answer was, "its just a standard charge sir" Don't mind paying for what I get but hate to be ripped off.

Rant over will get it booked in next week sometime.

Do you know any seperate-independent machenics that can service the car. Just re-itterate a car can be serviced by any garage/Car mechanics - does not have to be a dealer to maintain warranty validity.
As long you meet the required service intervals dependent what milage is allowed or if the year comes first. I done this - would never take my car to the dealer. I serviced my car in may and my wiper packed up in july, the warranty covered this - no issues. Just make sure you get serviced in the proper interval though.

    Regards

I have just looked at my sevice book, and found that the first service was due at 20,000 miles. I didnt own the car then, but it wasnt serviced till 21,224. Is it still under warranty?

I wouldn't worry too much TBH - it's only slightly over. I can't see Vx refusing to honour a warranty due to a service being a bit over, especially if you keep it on time from now on.

Has it been serviced since then and was it on time? Being a 2005 it will still be under warranty and it would be very, very mean of Vx to refuse any warranty claim for a service being just over a thousand miles past it's date.
